Is the Metaverse the end of ads as we know them?
While it is known that the term Metaverse has become the topic of conversation for many somewhat controversial, however, for many others it is still one more tool to add to this world full of digital tools, but this will truly develop new digital economies.
Every generation of technology has been subsidized in some way by advertisements or ads, being this the new race that the big companies are currently going through, betting on the creation of this new virtual reality technology, starting with Facebook with the purchase of Oculus, Microsoft with the purchase of Hololens, Playstation with the development of its VR product, among others. This has generated the consolidation of a practically new industry taking into consideration all these large companies in the digital world, so much so that Facebook is convinced that it will be the big bet by changing its name to Meta and in turn the creation of the Metaverse.
Companies within the Metaverse are expected to have a higher creator value, by developing digital spaces or digital worlds, having the possibility to have advertisements. With this Mark Zuckerberg and company pose the same business model as it is with social networks today, “Ads” or ads.
But how will brands be able to sell their products within the Metaverse?
Companies such as Nike or Samsung are creating their virtual world, where Facebook Meta is selling advertising space in these worlds, however, it has encountered an obstacle today with a rejection of firms for the budget of this bet and why? lies in the statistics of the use of VR (Virtual Reality) technology for the United States with around 67 million people who have used it at least once, which is also divided between the platforms for players of Minecraft or Roblox.
No one really knows today which way the world of ads will go. ads. Meta’s vision could go far beyond what is being considered as the big change.
